WALT: Explain what makes a healthy person
Lesson 2Describing Fruit and Vegetable
1. (we do) What words can we use to describe an apple? Use Descriptive Writing Poster to ensure a range of words 2. (you do) Students select a fruit or vegetable to describe on Descriptive Words Worksheet. Ensure a good range and encourage uncommon varieties. Display Descriptive Writing Poster to prompt a variety of words 3. Students give a few descriptive words as clues and the other person must guess what their fruit or vegetable is (Inside/Outside Circle) 4. Students research a fruit or vegetable, filling in the appropriate section of their retrieval chart. They then report back to their home group about their fruit or vegetable and they fill in the other sections of their retrieval charts (2 groups of 6 do vegetables, 2 groups of 6 do fruit) (Jigsaw) |

What does a person need to be healthy? In your health books using the whole A4 page draw a person like so, it can be realistic or as simple as the one on the left. Label all the things a person needs to be healthy, what do you already know about being healthy? Write three things you would like to know about being healthy. |
Lesson 3
WALT: identify and describe nutrients

Activity
You are going to be given a card that is either a nutrient or
a benefit and must find their matching partner. Sit on the mat when you have found your matching partner.
Activity
In groups make up a rap, song or poem for a given nutrient about where they are found and their
benefits.
*Use the information in lesson 2 (scroll up) and your completed nutrient table from last week.
