Warm Up: Array Game
Materials:
- one 12 sided dice or an electronic 12 dice
- physical graph paper or electronic graph paper
- 2 highlighters
- a pencil
- a partner to play with
How to Play:
1. Choose your multiplication focus e.g. 4,6,8 or 9.
2. Player one rolls the 12 sided dice. E.g. they roll a 3. The chosen multiplication number for this round is 4. Player one needs to create a highlighted box that is 4x3, 4 squares on one side and 3 squares on the other.
3. Player one write the answer of that multiplication in that box, which for this round is 12.
4. Player two rolls the 12 sided dice. E.g. they roll a 10. Player two needs to highlighted box that is 4x10, 10 squares on one side and 4 squares on the other.
5. Player two writes the answer of that multiplication in that box, which for this round is 40.
6. Players continue until there is no more room to complete the next roll. Players add up their totals, the player with the highest number of squares win.
Variation:
Play again, but chose another number multiplication focus.
